Grace 17.20 in Peachtree Corners Fails Restaurant Inspection

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA -- Grace 17.20, the upscale restaurant in The Forum that advertises “a unique dining experience that uplifts and inspires our guests,” fell short on its latest health inspection.

The eatery, at 5155 Peachtree Parkway, was dinged for a list of problems by inspectors, resulting in a failing grade of 58 on its inspection last week.

“Several violations occurred during today’s inspection that resulted in an unsatisfactory score (demonstrating a lack of training and or oversight of employees that could result in a foodborne illness),” inspectors wrote on the report.

Among the problems: A server was seen repeatedly handling dirty dishes without washing his or her hands. The same server was seen handling lemons with bare hands, putting them on the rims of patrons’ drinks.

A handwashing sink didn’t have paper towels and a dishwasher didn’t have enough cleaning chlorine in it.

Some food was being stored at temperatures that were too high and the person in charge at the time of the inspection didn’t show proper knowledge of food safety techniques.

Grace 17.20’s most recent inspection had earned it a score of 90 -- an ”A” grade. But 11 days before that it had gotten a “C,” with a score of 75.

A manager at Grace 17.20 told WSB-TV that the restaurant’s staff is working to improve in areas where it’s needed.

Each item on an inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points, with violations deducting points from a best possible score of 100.

Higher points are taken for items with higher risk to cause illness, while repeat violations take even more points.

Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70, and U for less than 70.
