Grass Fire Slows Traffic During Afternoon Commute on I-85
Fire along roadway closes one lane for nearly 90 minutes, cause of fire unknown, according to Gwinnett Fire and Emergency Services.

The afternoon commute on New Year’s Eve was complicated by a grass fire along the right shoulder of Interstate 85 Wednesday afternoon, according to Gwinnett County Department of Fire and Emergency Services .
Crews responded to the call at 4:03 p.m. in an area of I-85 heading southbound just north of Friendship Road.
Three engines responded, quickly extinguishing the fire. A ”medium-sized area of grass” was burnt. The cause of the fire is unknown.

There were no injuries, but an engine had to block a lane of traffic for nearly 90 minutes as crews worked the scene. Smoke also slowed traffic, according to a fire release.
