Gwinnett Fire Responds To Calls in Peachtree Corners, Snellville

Fire officials called both of Tuesday's blazes minor ones.

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA -- Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services responded to two fire calls on Tuesday -- both of which were described as minor.

At 2:45 a.m., an occupant reported a house fire on the 2400 block of Folsom Street, SW in Snellville.

Firefighters found a small fire smoldering in an upstairs bedroom. An occupant of the home had already doused the fire with a portable fire extinguisher and a pan of water.

The fire, which caused only moderate damage to what was being used as a children’s playroom, may have started due to a lamp that was on the floor, fire officials said in a news release. There were two adults and two children home at the time of the fire. There were no injuries reported to the occupants, who were alerted by a fire alarm.

At 11:39 a.m., firefighters responded to a call of a fire alarm activated in an apartment on the 1200 block of Ivey Park Lane, NW in Peachtree Corners.

Crews found a small fire on a bed in the second-floor apartment. It was already out when firefighters arrived, having been extinguished by the apartment’s sprinkler system.

No one was home at the time of the fire and no injuries were reported. The cause of the fire remains unknown, according to the news release.
