Gwinnett Gets High Marks on U.S. News 'Best High Schools' List

A Gwinnett County school was listed among the 2015 “Best High Schools in Nation,” according to new rankings by U.S. News & World Report.

Gwinnett School of Mathematics, Science and Technology, which draws students from all over the county, was listed No. 4 in the nation and No. 1 in Georgia.
Released Tuesday, the 2015 rankings include data on more than 21,150 public high schools across the country. In Georgia, 442 high schools were considered.

Eleven other Gwinnett schools were ranked in the top 50 in Georgia:
- North Gwinnett, 14th in Georgia (337th in the U.S.)
- Brookwood, 16th (455th)
- Peachtree Ridge, 27th (744th)
- Parkview, 29th (783rd)
- Norcross, 30th (888th)
- Duluth, 31st (932nd)
- Mill Creek, 32nd (1,061st)
- Buford, 36th (1,119th)
- Collins Hill, 38th (1,249th)
- Dacula, 41st (1,541st)
- Central Gwinnett, 42nd (1,568th)
- Shiloh, 45th (1,687th)
To determine the rankings, U.S. News used math and readings scores from state proficiency tests, as well as “the degree to which schools prepare students for college-level work,” using Advanced Placement or International Baccalaureate test data.
