Gwinnett Police Seek Suspect in Armed Robbery Shooting Near Apartment Complex

Police release a sketch rendering of the suspect in the Jan. 6 incident at the Bridgewater Apartments

Police have released a sketch of the man wanted in connection with an armed robbery shooting last month at a Gwinnett County apartment complex.

The shooting happened around 9:20 p.m. on Jan. 6 at the Bridgewater Apartments in the Duluth area not far from Berkeley Lake Country Club. The victim was shot in the hand during the incident.

Police spokesperson Cpl. Michelle Pihera said in a news release that the victim reported the suspect approached him and asked for a cigarette at the West Liddell Road entrance of the apartment complex. When the man offered the cigarette, the suspect pulled out a gun and demanded the victim’s wallet.

According to the victim, he and the suspect got into a struggle and the suspect pulled the trigger, shooting the victim in the right hand.

There are no other known witnesses, police said.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 30 years old, 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 200 pounds. He has scruffy facial hair, a deep voice, and was last seen wearing a long-sleeve green shirt and dark pants.

A Georgia Bureau of Investigation sketch artist worked with the victim to create a sketch rendering of the suspect.

Detectives need help from the public to identify the suspect. GCPD detectives can be reached at 770-513-5300. Crime Stoppers tipsters can receive up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and indictment in this case.
