Hospital visit

Have you every looked forward to a trip that was a mix of business and vacation activities?  We had such a trip last week, long story but I made a committment to a customer in Jan that I would be at his event last Sat which was taking place at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Ky.  When I fell and broke my right elbow in April this guy called me in the hospital to chide me how I'd go to any length to get out of a promise.  I reaffirmed my promise to be there by bringing my wife into the trip as my driver.  That created the vacation part of the trip so we would leave Louisville after the event and go to Dayton, Oh to visit her sister.
Everything was going so well, on Fri as we drove up we stopped to visit friends around Lexington and had dinner with them, funny I just wasn't hungry ( very unusual for me) but no problems.  Sat morning on the final leg to Louisville I had "pressure" building in my stomach. By noon it was starting to become pain. By 2pm is was off to an Immediate Care Doc in the box who quickly sent me to a local hospital ER.
now this story isn't to relay my medical history but rather to comment on 1. How fantastic medical folks are, and 2. To tell even how much better they are when they discover you're from out of town.  My wife became upset, not only did she have the pressure of me being in the hospital but she was staying in a hotel she wasn't sure she could find again, the car needed gas she had to locate a station that took our company credit card, and finally she new the Churchill Downs event was off as was the rest of the trip.  That crew in the ER as well as the floor crew after I was admitted were all so great and caring. They not only helped me but spent time helping her with overcoming all issues!
Bottom line was medical professionals everywhere aren't just doing a job, they chose a lifestyle of caring for others that earns them a living.  I wish so many others in our world could pattern themselves after these fine folks.
Thank you Louisville Baptist Hospital staff!
