How Prepared Are You For An Emergency?
New Peachtree Corners store offers supplies and advice on how to be ready for the unexpected.
We all know what it's like to suddenly get cut off from our daily routine, January's record snowfall practically shut our town down. Schools were closed, banks couldn't open their doors, mail delivery stopped, some of us lost electric power -- and more importantly our neighborhood grocery stores were closed.
None of us could imagine that it would be nearly a week before our routines would return to normal. So just what can be done to prepare for the unknown? (APC), which opened just recently on Peachtree Parkway has equipment, long-term food storage and much more to sustain you and your familiy to survive comfortably.
"People aren't prepared for the 9/11s, the Katrinas," said Chris Allen, who is a co-owner of the business. But take a step inside the store and you'll find a bevy of products, equipment -- and some advice in getting set up for a myriad of emergency situations.

Along with survival products, the business has a number of other items to ensure your safety. The store carrries home and vehicle safety products, and can provide assistance in designing and building safe and hidden rooms, storm shelters and bunkers. American Preparedness Center also sells firearms and body armor and offers professional assistance in helping customers select the right firearm for their needs.
APC offers education and training classes as well. Sign up for Workshop 101 for an introduction to preparedness and home security strategies or Workshop 102 to learn how to build a 24-hour or 72-hour emergency kit and a session on learning how to be more aware of your surroundings.

"We also offer a concierge service," said Allen. "We can guide a client through the planning acquisition and implementation of the equipment, materials and provide the training for their needs. Our goal is to help you become self-relient and prepared for any situation."
APC also has a second location in Marietta.
The Peachtree Corners store is located at 5275 Peachtree Parkway, Suite 103 (1 block south of The Forum).
