June Was Bursting Out All Over
Star Patcher Robert Nebel writes about how June brought us plenty of heat, humidity and rainfall.

June 2018 happened in the blink of an eye. While the heat, humidity and strong thunderstorm combination doesn’t help make the time pass, it’s the amount of activity that occurs in our lives and events that happen around us. When summer becomes official, I feel that the calendar needs to catch up with us.
For those of us here in the Southeastern US, summer started about five weeks before its official date. That gets even more tough each year since we are receiving warmer temperatures on average than just a few years ago. As humans, we both deal with the rising temperatures as well as adapt to them in our own way.
We deal with the hot days and nights by cranking our artificial air which temporarily makes us feel better, but knowing in the long run, we must face the brutal outdoor temps. Obviously jumping into cold pools, seeking shade, consuming chilled beverages and ice cream are other ways to beat the heat. We also adapt our schedules to stay away from the heat as well. Events are being rescheduled to accommodate the hotter temperatures.

At the end of every month, I assess how much has been done and how much more needs to be done. Certainly, the home projects are a never-ending thing, but I have been proud of my literary and video production output. My latest video project showcasing a young man from Marietta who creates cigar box guitars while maintaining a career in music. I’m fascinated by folks who can excel at both technical and aesthetic skills. In this video that I produced, directed, conducted the interview, wrote, video edited and distributed, I feature Mike Snowden. Mike talks about how he got into creating cigar box guitars and the success that the business has brought him.
While I’m hoping for a productive July, I’m also wishing for somewhat cooler temperatures. I’m not holding my breath because well, we are in the thick of another Georgia summer. As usual, I notice the amazing amount of metro Atlanta residents who continually head to the beaches throughout these months. For me, I’m more into going north into the mountains. No matter where you are at throughout July 2018, make the most of the month.
