Mark Williams Announces Bid for State House Post
Republican Duluth resident to seek House District 96 seat currently held by Democratic State Rep. 'Pete' Pedro Marin.

Lifelong Duluth resident Mark Williams recently announced that he will be a Republican candidate in 2012 for the State House District 96 position representing parts of Duluth and Norcross. The seat is currently held by Democratic State Rep. Pedro “Pete” Marin.
Boundaries for Georgia House and Senate districts, including H.D. 96, were recently withdrawn as a result of the 2010 Census and are awaiting U.S. Justice Department approval.
Williams and his brother Mike own and operate Printing Trade Company, a Norcross-based commercial printing company that their family started more than 40 years ago.

“Gwinnett needs to elect more legislators who are primarily focused on fixing the problems in our county, not playing partisan politics,” Williams said in his announcement. “I have a proven record of being effective for our community and believe that it’s time to elect more effective leaders.”
“Throughout our nation and our state, we can see the demand for new, more effective representation,” said Williams. “And there is no place better to making that change than here at home.”

Williams has been active with local volunteer committees, civic organizations and business groups.
He served as chairman of the Gwinnett Place Community Improvement District, which has led efforts to make improvements and increase businesses in the Gwinnett Place Mall area of Duluth.
He lives in Duluth’s Cardinal Lake community and served as president of the homeowners association. In addition, he chaired various Duluth Fall Festival committees and served on the board of directors of the Duluth Merchants Association and Norcross Business Association. He is a co-founder of Foster Children's Foundation and is a charter member of the Duluth Civitan Club.
