Mayor: Imagine If There Was No Peachtree Corners
Mike Mason highlighted positive changes brought about by the city in his annual State of the City address.

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA -- In his annual State of the City address, Peachtree Corners Mayor Mike Mason emphasized how different the chunk of territory in western Gwinnett County would be had the city not incorporated some four years ago.
"We now have a different perspective,” Mason said. "As a city, things are possible now. We
control our destiny and we share a vision for the future."
Mason gave his address Friday evening at an event hosted by the Peachtree Corners Business Association. He is scheduled to give the speech again Monday at an event sponsored by United Peachtree Corners Civic Association.

"What if there was no city?" Mason said. "You would have been looking at 267 garden apartments where the new Town Center will be built."
The city purchased the 20-acre property where Town Center will be built.
Mason also mentioned Simpsonwood Park, a 227-acre tract of land along the Chattahoochee River that had been a retreat and conference center, but was being marketed to residential developers before the city bought it.
Listing priorities for Peachtree Corners, Mason mentioned making the city more walkable, developing a multi-use trail system, providing millennial and "empty nester" housing, creating a central gathering place in Town Center and creating more economic development projects.
He also highlighted the new business incubator set to open next month and its goal of creating an innovation hub within Technology Park.
"We must plan and build for the future, for the next generation," Mason said.
