A: This is an exciting project, and one that will be a centerpiece for the city. The developer, Fuqua Development, is expected to break ground on the 20.6 acre tract in the fall and it’s expected to be complete in late 2017.The Town Center will feature retail, restaurants, a movie theater, town homes - and a two-acre town green for community gatherings and events.
In a survey taken last year, an overwhelming number of residents ranked the creation of a town center with green space as a top priority for the city. The property was once destined to become a 270+ garden apartment development until the city stepped in to purchase this undeveloped tract of land.

Q: What is the purpose of Livable Center Initiative (LCI) Study?
A: Paul Duke, who is considered the founder of Peachtree Corners, had an idea in the late 1960s for a community that would incorporate a place that people could live, work and play to reduce the need for long commutes. It is considered one of the first planned community concept to be developed in the country.
It’s been over 50 years since those plans were put to paper. Our needs have changed, residents are looking for a wider variety of housing choices and more pedestrian-friendly means, such as walking and cycling trails in the city.
The study also looked at ways to address our traffic issues, especially along Peachtree Parkway, and finding ways to refresh and redevelop the city’s aging commercial, retail and office buildings.
Among the first projects to get underway will be the development of a bicycle path plan and the design for a bridge over Peachtree Parkway to connect the Town Center to the Forum. Grant money is available to assist with these and a number of the projects identified in the study
Q: What is the next step for the development of the 6 1/2 acres located on the corner of Peachtree Parkway and Peachtree Corners Circle?
A: The Planning Commission is expected to review the plans for this project at its March meeting. Then the Commissions’ review, and any recommendations, will go before the City Council at its April meeting for a final decision. The property is owned by Charlie Roberts, who plans on adding a restaurant, retail space, and eventually a hotel.
