Minor Damage Reported After Early Morning Storms

There was one report of flooding near Holcomb Bridge Road and Spalding Drive in Peachtree Corners.

While the strong storms that roared through the area early Tuesday weren’t as severe as we prepared for, they still kept public safety crews busy.

Gwinnett Fire Capt. Tommy Rutledge said there were no reports of major damage or injuries in the county as of noon Tuesday.

Weather forecasters said there was still a chance of thunderstorms Tuesday afternoon.

TREES DOWN IN ROADWAY

There were several reports of trees down in the roadway this morning.

  • South Old Peachtree Road and South Berkeley Lake Road in Duluth
  • Hamilton Mill Road and Thrasher Road, Buford
  • Maltdie Court in Buford
  • Hamilton Mill Road near I-985, Buford

TREE ON HOUSE

Firefighters responded to a report of a tree on a house in the 3500 block of Citrus Drive in Duluth. There was damage to the roof over a bedroom of the house, but no structural hazards found. Crews secured the power and released the property back to the homeowner. There were no injuries reported.

ROADS FLOODED

There was one report of flooding that occurred earlier this morning on Holcomb Bridge Road and Spalding Drive in Norcross/Peachtree Corners.

WIRES DOWN

There were only a few reports of wires down in the Snellville, Lilburn and Buford areas. There were no widespread power outages at this time.
