Murder Fugitive Apprehended in Gwinnett County

Devon Lee Stidwell was wanted in connection with a shooting death in Cook County, Ill.

A man wanted for murder in Illinois was arrested at a Gwinnett motel Sunday, the Gwinnett County Sheriff’s Office said.

Devon Lee Stidwell of Ford Heights, Ill., was arrested along with a Lawrenceville man at Extended Stay of America, located at 3390 Venture Parkway in Duluth.

Stidwell, 19, is wanted in Cook County, Ill., in connection with the Aug. 14 shooting death of 16-year-old Nathaniel Burns, Jr. during a fight between two groups outside a strip mall. Stidwell is one of three people charged with murder.

Stacy Hall, 23, of Lawrenceville, was arrested on a probation violation. He also was charged with giving false information to police.

Deputies with the Gwinnett Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Unit followed up on a lead that Stidwell was in Duluth. When they arrived at the motel, they spotted Stidwell and Hall leaving the parking lot.

The car, driven by Hall,Β was stopped and the men were arrested.

Both men are being held without bond at the Gwinnett County Jail.
