NADRA Volunteers Build Deck for Deserving Local Family

Volunteers from the Atlanta Chapter of the North American Deck and Railing Association recently built a 16-by-24-foot deck for a local family of 12. NADRA is made up of deck builders, inspectors, manufacturers, and other companies allied to the deck and railing industry.

The Cook family has 10 children (seven adopted and three biological). Five of the children recently joined the family after their dying mother's wish to have all her children remain together. The father heads up a non-profit ministry called Promise686.

The volunteers built the deck from donated materials. The family's church even donated deck furniture to complete the project, according to Keith Compton, who coordinated the NADRA deck-building project.

NADRA members who participated in the project represented DeckSource, Atlanta Fence and Deck, Compton Sales, Great Southern, Southeastern Underdeck, PMC, Great Southern, Decksouth, Outback Decks, HIDfast, and Fiberon.

NADRA hopes to build a deck for another deserving family next spring. For more information about the organization, go to www.Nadra.org.
