New Decals to Make Gwinnett PD Cars More Visible
The new graphics, recommended by retired Chief Charles Walters, are replacing the fading decals that had been in circulation since 1999-2000

Gwinnett County Police patrol vehicles are getting a new look.
In fact, you may have already noticed.
The agency said in a new release that new decals — with the word “POLICE” considerably bigger — are being affixed to the nearly 700 vehicles in the fleet. So far, 34 patrol cars already have the new look, and 113 cars are nearly ready,

The difference is especially great at night, because the word POLICE and the stripe are highly reflective. The new graphics will enhance officer safety as well and improve crime prevention / deterrence efforts by making the car more visible and distinguishable to citizens and criminals alike.
The department has 698 vehicles in its fleet. The transition to the new decals will take about five years.
