New Rule: Peachtree Corners Businesses Must Display License

City council amended an existing ordinance to require business licenses be displayed during its meeting this week.

PEACHTREE CORNERS, GA — Businesses operating in Peachtree Corners must now publicly display their licenses to operate, city council has decided.

This week, city council approved an amendment requiring all businesses in the city to display their occupational tax certificates in a prominent place within public view.

Occupational tax certificates are also referred to as business licenses.

"The amendment brings the city current with standard practices for municipalities," said Peachtree Corners City Manager Brian Johnson. "As a general rule, it is always good business practice for businesses to post their licenses for public viewing."

Doing so, Johnson said, "assures your clients and customers that you are legitimately licensed."

To operate a business in Peachtree Corners, including a home-based business, you must have a current occupational tax certificate. Other permits and licenses may also be required, depending on what type of business you plan to operate.

The new ordinance reads as follows: "Any occupational tax certificate issued under this chapter shall be displayed in a conspicuous place of the business of the licensee and within public view. Such occupational tax certificate shall be shown to any appointee of the city upon request."
