Norcross High Grad Wins Georgia-Pacific Scholarship
Claire Mahon will get $8,000 for her college education.

Claire Mahon, a recent graduate of Norcross High School, has been selected as a recipient of a Georgia-Pacific Foundation Employeesβ Children Scholarship.
She is the daughter of Kevin and Gayle Mahon. Kevin is a vice-president of sales at Georgia-Pacific headquarters.

Each year, the company awards 50 scholarships to children of employees across the country.

Dossman, Jr., president of the Georgia-Pacific Foundation. βInvesting in education has always been an important focus for us, but this program is especially meaningful because our employees are directly impacted. We look forward to helping these students on their path to academic success.β
At Norcross High School, Claire played flute in the band. She also played flute in the Atlanta Youth Wind Symphony and Emory Youth Symphony Orchestra. In the fall, Claire will attend Emory University, focused on International and Global Studies.
The Georgia-Pacific Foundation Scholarship Program for Employeesβ Children awards $2,000 per year for up to four years of full-time college undergraduate study or until baccalaureate degree requirements are completed, whichever occurs first, for a total maximum award of $8,000.
Since the scholarship program began in 1988, Georgia-Pacific has awarded 1,400 scholarships totaling $11.4 million. The program is administered by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation and is open to children of all active, fullβtime employees of Georgia-Pacific in the United States.
