Overnight Fire Damages Plastics Recycling Business

Imperial Plastics near Peachtree Corners sustained moderate exterior damage early Saturday morning.

Gwinnett firefighters worked an overnight blaze at a plastics recycling business near Peachtree Corners.

Fire broke out around 2:30 a.m. Saturday morning on the exterior of Imperial Plastics, located in the 6500 block of Jimmy Carter Boulevard. This is an area near the Peachtree Corners and Norcross city boundaries.

Fire department spokesman Lt. Jerrod Barrett said crews arrived at 2:39 a.m. and had the fire under control at 2:59 a.m.

Fire damage to the interior was minimal, but the exterior area where the blaze started sustained moderate damage. No one was injured. Two employees were inside the building when the fire started but were able to escape.

The exact cause of the fire is currently undetermined and is under active investigation by the fire department.
