Peachtree Corners Gas Prices: Streak of Declining Prices Ends

Gas prices in Georgia crept up last week — only slightly — ending a months-long streak of falling prices at the pumps.

The AAA said in its weekly briefing that the average price in Georgia for a gallon of regular unleaded gasoline rose less than a penny in the week ending Sunday, Feb. 1. And the state’s 116-day streak of declining prices ended (officially on Tuesday, Jan. 27), a streak that saw the average fall $1.32.

The Georgia average was $1.99 per gallon as of Sunday, the AAA said. The national average was $2.05, up two cents from the previous week and snapping a 123-day streak of decreases.

“Gasoline prices have finally adjusted to the plunging price of oil,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group. “Wholesale gas prices rose last weekend, resulting in mild increases at the pump.”

Jenkins said gas prices should fluctuate in the coming weeks, but will likely increase by the spring.

The lowest prices Monday morning in Peachtree Corners, according to AtlantaGasPrices.com, included:
