Police said the man, who was wearing a surgical mask and a latex glove, also groped the woman during the incident.

The alleged crime happened around 4:15 p.m. June 24 at Title Easy, located at 5059 Jimmy Carter Boulevard near Norcross. He stole $2,000 from the business, police said.

Gwinnett Police spokesman Cpl. Deon Washington said the man was armed with a black semi-automatic handgun when he entered the business. At gunpoint, he allegedly tied the woman’s hands behind her back with computer cables and led her to the back of the business and into a storage closet.

“While the victim was in the closet, the suspect made her lean forward as he pulled down her pants and underwear. The suspect told the victim that he intended to rape her,” Washington said in an email. “The suspect grabbed the victim’s buttocks several times. The suspect told the victim to stay in the closet and he would be back shortly.”

He didn’t return and the woman was able to free herself and go to a business next door, and police were called.

Before the assault, police said the suspect forced the woman at gunpoint to give him all of the money in the business. He also ordered her to give him the surveillance video, but she was unable. He tampered with the equipment, but couldn’t operate it.

Police released images from the surveillance system Friday afternoon.

Based on the video, police describe the suspect as a black male, unknown age, 5-foot-8 to 5-foot-10, with an average build. He was last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt with white strings, blue medical scrub pants, gray and black shoes, one latex glove, and a surgical mask.

He was last seen leaving on foot heading toward Rockbridge School Road behind a neighboring business.
