Gwinnett Police said the robbery happened Jan. 6 at the Lake Colony Apartments.

An Atlanta man has been arrested and charged in an armed robbery of a 65-year-old Peachtree Corners man earlier this month.

Gwinnett Police spokesperson Cpl. Michele Pihera said in a news release that Jason Houston, 29, was charged with armed robbery and exploitation of an elder person in connection with the Jan. 6 incident at the Lake Colony Apartments, located at 2929 Lake Colony Drive. This is an area off Peachtree Industrial Boulevard in western Peachtree Corners.

Both charges are felonies.

Officers from the West Precinct responded to the armed robbery call around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 6, and found the victim on the ground behind the apartment building.

The victim told police he and Houston were inside the residence when Houston allegedly pulled a knife, held it to his neck and forced him to lay on the floor with his wrists tied behind his back with a cable.

Once Houston left the apartment, the victim locked the apartment door and jumped over the third-floor balcony in fear Houston would return, Pihera said. The victim was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, she said.

Houston allegedly stole the victim’s wallet, cash, cell phone and electric guitar.

Houston was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 20, Pihera said. As of Thursday morning, he was being held without bond in the Gwinnett County Jail, according to jail records.
