Police: Body Recovered in Submerged Car

A body has been recovered from a car that was found submerged Thursday evening near Norcross, Gwinnett Police said.

In an email sent just after 9 p.m., Gwinnett Police spokeswoman Cpl. Michele Pihera said the car was found in a “pond/marsh” on Oakbrook Parkway near Indian Trail-Lilburn Road. This is an area near Greater Atlanta Christian School.

“The vehicle was removed from the water, and a deceased person was found inside,” Pihera said.

No details were available on how the incident happened or how long the vehicle had been in the water. The gender and identity of the person was not immediately known.
