Police Chief Says He's Retiring

Charlie Walters has been the Gwinnett PD chief for 11 years

Gwinnett County Police Chief Charlie Walters, who joined the department as a 22-year-old, says he’s retiring.

In an interview with the Gwinnett Daily Post last week, Walters, 58, said his last day will be Oct. 24. He has been chief for 11 years.

Walters told the Post he made his decision to retire last spring and notified the county’s leadership in the pas month.
