For gardeners, and even those who don’t have a green thumb – there’s good news to report. A new boutique garden center has just opened in the city.

And with spring upon us, the timing couldn’t be better.

My Secret Garden is located at 3420 Woodhill Drive in the old Hastings Garden Center behind Chick fil-A on Peachtree Parkway.

Owner Sonya Harrison has been busy creating a unique look for her new business which she purchased last fall.

Mayor Mike Mason and Councilmember Phil Sadd (Post 1), were on hand Saturday, April 11, to help celebrate the garden center’s grand opening with a ribbon-cutting ceremony

“We welcome My Secret Garden to our business community,” Mason said. “The garden center is a welcome addition to the city, and I’m sure gardeners and homeowners looking to spruce up their yards with flowering plants will enjoy shopping here.”

Since last October when she bought the business, Harrison has been working on both the interior and exterior, adding her personal touches. Inside the store she shows off her background in interior design with lots of unique gifts and design ideas. And of course outside is an array of flowering plants, fruits and vegetable plants and bubbling water fountains for sale. And you’ll also see a few touches left from when the Hastings family ran the place, the electric train still makes its way round a landscaped track – and the fish pond is full of koi and a turtle or two.

“I thank Mayor Mason and Councilmember Sadd for being here to help celebrate our grand opening,” said Harrison to the shoppers who had gathered for the ceremony. “We have ordered from the same growers and suppliers that Hastings used, so you can expect the same quality and selection.”

My Secret Garden’s hours of operation are Tuesday – Sunday from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m., closed on Mondays. Telephone: 678-805-8812.
