Sidewalk Coming to Busy Patch of Old Norcross Road
About a third of a mile of sidewalk will run from Langford Road to Ingram Road.

A new stretch of sidewalk is coming to Old Norcross Road, connecting a residential area to an area full of restaurants and other businesses.
The project, approved Tuesday by the Gwinnett County Commission, will be on the south side of Old Norcross Road and fill a sidewalk gap from Langford Road to Ingram Road.
The area, especially on the Langford Road end of the stretch, is full of restaurants, gas stations, pharmacies, churches and other public buildings.

The commission awarded the $302,762 contract to the lowest of five bidders, CMES Construction of Lilburn. Funding comes from a 2014 special-purpose local-option sales tax.
“This project is part of the county’s ongoing effort to improve pedestrian safety by building new sections of sidewalk and filling in gaps in existing sidewalks,” Gwinnett Department of Transportation Director Alan Chapman said in a news release. “The Citizens Project Selection Committee identified this as a priority need for the county.”

Work, which will include drainage improvements, is expected to begin early next year and be completed by the spring.
