Traffic Alert: Ga. 316 Bridge to I-85 South Re-Opened After Emergency Repairs

Road settling created a rut that needed to filled and repaved.

The Ga. 316 bridge to I-85 South has been re-opened, the Gwinnett Daily Post reported.

A ramp connecting Ga. 316 to Interstate 85 South has been shut down for emergency repairs Tuesday, the Georgia DOT said.

WSB-TV reported the bridge from Ga. 316 west to the interstate was closed to traffic due to a rut discovered between the asphalt roadway and the concrete bridge. The apparent cause was road settling, the DOT said.

The repairs are expected to be completed by 5 p.m. Tuesday. Crews are replacing a 100-foot section, the DOT said.

Vehicles are being directed onto the HOV ramp to continue on I-85 South.
