Trash Fees Going Up for County Residents
New rates to go into effect during 2012 annual billing cycle.

The cost of garbage collection is going up. Beginning in 2012 residents in unincorporated Gwinnett County will have to pay a little more each month for trash and garbage pick up.
Under terms of a contract with trash hauling companies set in place in 2010, residents not within the city limits of one of Gwinnett's 15 cities, will see an increase of 30 cents per month in their monthly fee in the 2012 billing cycle.
This will bring the total monthly bill for weekly pickup of trash, bulky items and recycling to $18.16. The 12 month fee for 12 months of solid waste service to be included on the 2011 property tax bills totals $217.92. The county expects residents to receive those bills in the second week in September.

The county says this fee is calculated from increases in the consumer price index and rising fuel prices.
