The National Weather Service says patches of black ice are likely north of a line from LaGrange, to Griffin, to Covington and Athens.

The area includes Peachtree Corners and Gwinnett County.

The weather service said cold air was spreading over north Georgia Thursday and could create dangerous icy patches on wet roads. Temps across the region were in the low- to mid-40s at 2:30 p.m., 30 degrees cooler than Wednesday’s high in most places.
