Weekend Weather: Slight Risk of Storms, But Mostly Sunny, Dry

After recent storms, flooding and damage, we’re in store for a pretty nice — and dry — weekend.

The National Weather Service in Peachtree City, says the weekend will be mostly sunny in North Georgia, with only a slight chance of afternoon thunderstorms. (see the forecast below)

Highs will be in the mid-80’s Saturday and Sunday and the chance of rain is no greater than 20 percent anywhere in the region (a greater chance comes next week).

Here’s the lowdown:

• Friday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 9pm. Mostly clear, with a low around 65. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Saturday: A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 5pm. Sunny, with a high near 87. Northwest wind around 5 mph.
• Saturday night: A 10 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 7pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 67. Northwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.
• Sunday: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86. Southeast wind around 5 mph.
• Sunday night: A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms before 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 68.
• Monday: A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms after 8am. Mostly sunny, with a high near 86.
