What You Need to Know About MLK, Jr. Parade

The United Ebony Society presents the 15th Annual Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Parade on Monday, January 19, 2015.
The theme, “Uniting in Faith and Perseverance: Celebrating 15 Years in Gwinnett” underscores how faith and perseverance enabled the United Ebony Society to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King through the vision of creating the first MLK Annual Parade in Gwinnett County.

THE KICK-OFF
The kick-off will be held on Langley Drive in front of the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center located at 75 Langley Drive in Lawrenceville, GA at 9:30 a.m.

The parade concludes at Moore Middle School, which is located at 1221 Lawrenceville Highway (HWY 29) at the intersection of Johnson Road.
HEALTH FAIR
A free health and wellness fair will take place upon arrival to Moore Middle School.
Attendees of the health fair will benefit from free preventative health screenings and educational opportunities. Free educational materials in the following areas will be provided such as heart disease, stroke, blood pressure, breast cancer, domestic violence awareness, vision & dental screening, help for the homeless , sickle cell, fire & safety, health & wellness, Affordable Healthcare Act resources, etc.
These various resources will be available to help promote health awareness; increase your understanding of available resources in the community related to health wellness, and many more valuable services.
ARTWORK DISPLAY AND ENTERTAINMENT
There will be an artwork display by GCPS students and musical performance by Shiloh Middle Chorus.
The United Ebony Society of Gwinnett County, Inc. is a registered nonprofit organization whose mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of all residents of Gwinnett County by strengthening and promoting community awareness and involvement.
The United Ebony Society’s goal is to reach out to the community and make this an inclusive event which truly symbolizes the vision of Dr. King. We look forward to your presence as well as your participation. Please bring your signs/banners representing your organizations or groups.
PARKING AND TRANSPORTATION
The two locations available for parking are at Central Gwinnett High School and Moore Middle School.
Participants must prioritize ensuring their own transportation to Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center since transportation is very limited. Limited transportation service will be provided starting at 8:15am-9:45am from Central Gwinnett High School and Moore Middle School to the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center.
Limited transportation service will be provided in the afternoon from Moore Middle School to Central Gwinnett High School from 12:45pm-2:15pm. Please plan accordingly to avoid unnecessary delays due to limited transportation.
PLEASE NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO PARKING AT THE JUSTICE CENTER (COURT HOUSE)
