'White House Down' Genuinely Entertaining Says One Critic

In Columbia Pictures' 'White House Down,' Capitol Policeman John Cale (Channing Tatum) has just been denied his dream job with the Secret Service of protecting President James Sawyer (JamieFoxx). Not wanting to let down his little girl with the news, he takes her on a tour of the White House, when the complex is overtaken by a heavily armed paramilitary group. Now, with the nation's government falling into chaos and time running out, it's up to Cale to save the president, his daughter, and the country.

Tatum looks every inch the action hero, but he's got nothing to play. Foxx doesn't look remotely presidential, and phones in what is laughably being called a performance. Worse is the shameless product placement. At one point the Prez says he won't leave the White House without his Jordans. He actually stops the movie to put them on, and those kicks are really ready for their closeup. — Peter Travers, Rolling Stone 
... what makes White House Down not just tolerable but frivolously entertaining is its slapstick soul; a scene where the presidential limousine does doughnuts on the South Lawn plays like an homage to the Keystone Kops. — Mary Pols, Time Entertainment 

'White House Down' is a hoot and a half, a shameless popcorn entertainment that is preposterous and diverting in just about equal measure. ... Helping add verisimilitude are the actors, especially Tatum and Foxx. "White House Down" is rated PG-13 for prolonged sequences of action and violence including intense gunfire and explosions, some language and a brief sexual image. The movie runs 2 hour and 17 minutes.
