Bike Rider Fatally Hit, Driver Charged With DUI: Police
A man, 29, was killed early Wednesday while riding his bike, and the driver who hit him was charged with DUI, say Sandy Springs Police.
SANDY SPRINGS, GA — A 29-year-old man died early Wednesday morning after being struck while riding a bike in Sandy Springs. The driver who hit him has been charged with a DUI, Sandy Springs police say.
Sandy Springs police Sgt. Sam Worsham has identified the man as Marten Bijvank, 29.
Antoniette Battle, 34, has been identified as the driver who hit him. Police say she was arrested when officers arrived around 5 a.m. Battle is facing vehicular homicide and DUI charges, and a possible charge of driving without a license.

Bijvank was riding his bicycle southbound near the 7500 block of Roswell Road early Wednesday morning when he was struck by a vehicle that was passing by, Worsham said.
The accident shut down Roswell Road in both directions at Trowbridge Road for the fatality investigation.
