City of Sandy Springs Proclaims Mount Vernon Towers Day
Retirement Community Celebrates 30th Anniversary.
On April 20, more than 250 residents and members of the staff of Mount Vernon Towers celebrated the 30th anniversary of the opening of the top senior condominium community in the heart of Sandy Springs.
Gabriel Sterling, Councilman of the City of Sandy Springs, presented Chris Peterson, Mount Vernon Towers’ Executive Director, with a proclamation by Mayor Rusty Paul, officially recognizing April 20, 2016 as “Mount Vernon Towers Day.”
At the event, a number of residents were recognized, including Mrs. Laura Snipes, who moved to Mount Vernon Towers in April 1986 when the first building was just completed, as well as Mrs. Barbara Bruce, who moved here just last month.

Tommy Miller, who retired in 2015 after 21 years as Executive Director, recalled the early days, the growth from 150 to 300 condominiums, and the ongoing success of the outstanding senior community, currently home to more than 310 people.
