City Springs To Open For Tours Sept. 23

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- If you're planning to enjoy the annual Sandy Springs Festival this weekend, then you may want to hop on over and get a look at the new City Hall and performing arts center under construction in the heart of the city.

Residents will have a chance to get an up-close look at the progress of construction at City Springs, as the gates will open for community tours on Saturday, Sept. 23. The tours will be conducted in groups of 20, and will run from 9 a.m. to noon.

The entrance area for the tour is located at Mt. Vernon Highway at Sandy Springs Circle, in front of the Holder construction trailers. Tours will be led by representatives from the city, in addition to Holder Construction and Carter, the city’s partners on the project (SIGN UP: Get Patch's Daily Newsletter and Real Time News Alerts. As the project site remains an active construction area, tours will be limited to the main floor, including the performing arts center, studio theatre, main office lobby and city green. Minors must be accompanied by an adult, and no flip flop shoe wear is permitted.

The tours will be held right as the two-day Sandy Springs Festival gets up and running. The Festival, which will be presented free of charge this year, will run from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 23 and Sunday, Sept. 24 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The City Springs project began in January 2016. The 14-acre site includes the performing arts center, studio theatre, meeting space, city hall offices, retail, residential as well as a 4-acre green space. City Springs is expected to open in summer 2018.
