Commission Rejects Scaled-Down Senior Apartment Project
Parc Communities is seeking a rezoning to build a 171-unit complex in place of a church on Glenridge Drive in Sandy Springs.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Despite presenting a plan that would drop 30 apartment units from a new senior housing community, the Sandy Springs Planning Commission was not pleased with the latest proposal from developers.
Commissioners voted 4-1 at their June 16 meeting to recommend denial of a proposal from Parc Communities to rezone about 5.62 acres at 6025 and 6029 Glenridge Drive from R-2 (single family dwelling district) to A-L (apartment limited dwelling district).
Commission member Steve Tart was the lone vote against the recommendation; Andy Porter was not present.

Parc is proposing to construct a 171-unit senior housing community. Plans call for Parc demolishing the existing Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Apostles and other structures to accommodate its redevelopment.
The company originally proposed a plan to construct 201 units, a measure that was also recommended for denial by the Planning Commission at its April 21 meeting.

City Council members at the May 17 meeting voted to defer the request back to the commission so the company could submit a newer, smaller proposal to the city.
Plans submitted by Parc also include four buildings ranging from three to four stories, a concrete parking deck interior to buildings on four sides, fire lane surrounding the property, an open air pool and amenity area, common and service areas, a bistro, card room and exercise facility.
