Council of Neighborhoods Publishes Special Election Voter Guide

The Sandy Springs Council of Neighborhoods worked with the League of Women Voters to develop the "non-partisan" resource for citizens.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- The Sandy Springs Council of Neighborhoods joined forces with the League of Women Voters to help you prepare for the upcoming special election to fill the vacant District 3 seat on the City Council.

The organizations have compiled a voter guide, which is available for your viewing pleasure on the Council's website.

All candidates' responses were published at the same time. The guide, the Council of Neighborhoods said, is a "non-partisan resources for Sandy Springs voters."

The basic questions were provided by the League of Women Voters and SSCN compiled the guide.

"There is a strict agreement in place to prevent any partisan commentary or advertising," the Council said. "The League of Women Voters and SSCN do not endorse candidates."

Additionally, answers were limited to 150 words or less per question and the candidate biography was limited to 200 words. Questions submitted to candidates covered four main topics: governance, finance, infrastructure and services, with multiple questions within each topic.

The Sandy Springs Council of Neighborhoods notes candidate Joe Houseman did not respond to the questionnaire, and his answers were not posted on the website.

Advance voting in the race kicked off Monday, May 2 for the race. Residents in the District 3 seat can cast ballots at the North Fulton Annex between the hours of 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, May 2-20 and from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 14.

The annex is located at 7741 Roswell Road.

The nonpartisan election for Sandy Springs' District 3 race will be held from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, May 24 in the Round Program Building at Hammond Park at 6005 Glenridge Drive. The winner of the race will serve out the unexpired term until the 2017 general election.
