Former Deputy Groped Women While On Duty At Fulton Courthouse
Nakia Dorsey pleaded guilty to charges in connection to assaults on two women while in uniform.

ATLANTA, GA — A former deputy with the Fulton County Sheriff's Office has pleaded guilty on charges he exposed himself and groped two women while on duty at the Fulton County Courthouse. Nakia Dorsey, 42, pleaded guilty on two counts of false imprisonment, the Fulton County District Attorney's Office said Monday.
As part of the plea, he received a total of five years, with six months to be served in prison. He's also to have no contact with either victim, and must undergo a psycho-sexual evaluation. As part of his sentence, the court revoked Dorsey’s POST Certification, which gave him the authority to work as a law enforcement officer. Dorsey was a six-year veteran of the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office before his arrest.
Dorsey entered the guilty plea in connection to two incidents: one occurring Oct. 3, 2011, and another on May 30, 2012. In the first incident, Dorsey escorted a 20-year-old woman at the court as a defendant into a room used for audio and visual attached to a courtroom.

According to prosecutors, Dorsey "lured" the woman into the room by saying he needed to take her cell phone. While in the room, Dorsey placed the woman's hands on his groin, groped her breasts and asked her to take topless pictures. When she refused, Dorsey let the woman go and she reported the incident to the first female deputy she encountered at the courthouse. The sheriff's office investigated the incident, but Dorsey was "not held responsible," the District Attorney's Office.

Several months later on May 30, 2012, Dorsey took a 27-year-old woman, who was also a defendant in a case, into an empty room on the fifth floor. Like the 2011 incident, Dorsey told the woman he needed to confiscate her cell phone. When they entered the courtroom, the former deputy led the woman into a closet and "blocked the door," the DA's office said.
After blocking her exit, Dorsey exposed himself and groped the woman's breasts "while demanding a nude photo of her." When he realized the woman was not going to comply, he eventually let her leave the room. The victim reported the incident to the Atlanta Police Department the next day, and the complaint was turned over to the District Attorney's Office for investigation.
During Monday's plea hearing, one of Dorsey's victims read a prepared statement, detailing how the former deputy's crimes changed her life.
“You will never understand how you’ve impacted my life and my rights as a woman," part of her statement said.
Fulton County Superior Court Judge Henry M. Newkirk presided over the case, and Deputy District Attorney Pat Dutcher prosecuted the case. He was assisted by Deputy District Attorney Amy Ferguson and Assistant District Attorney Elisabeth Mienkwic as well as Investigators Greg Thomas and Wil Piquant from the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office. Detective T. Casey from the Atlanta Police Department was the lead investigator in this case.
