Dog Bites Woman Walking Pup In Sandy Springs

The woman said she and her pet were allegedly attacked by a pit bull inside Spalding Bridge apartments.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Sandy Springs police continue to search for the owner of a dog accused of biting a woman while she was walking her own pup earlier this month at an apartment complex.

Officers were dispatched just before 9:30 a.m. June 9 to a call on Spalding Trail and met with the victim, who said she was walking her small dog when "they were attacked by a loose pit bull in the complex," an incident report released by the police department states.

The victim as well as the Spalding Bridge apartments leasing office manager said they believed the dog belonged to a tenant who rents one of the units.

The smaller dog suffered several bites to its body and the woman said she was bitten on her right hand. According to the report, the leasing office manager told police he did not believe the dog's owner was on the property at the time of the alleged attack.

Sandy Springs police spokesperson Sgt. Sam Worsham said the dog as well as its owner have not been located. If they are found, Worsham said the owner could be cited for failing to restrain the dog.
