Double Homicide Investigation Ongoing In Sandy Springs: Police

The Sandy Springs Police Department is investigating a double shooting that left a 22-year-old man dead.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — The Sandy Springs Police Department is investigating a double shooting that resulted in the death of a 22-year-old man.

Sandy Springs Police were notified at 5:20 p.m. on Tuesday after receiving multiple calls of shots being fired in the parking lot of the Orchard Park Shopping Center, 2090 Dunwoody Club Drive.

As officers were on the way, they learned that two people had been shot and were still in the parking lot. Officers arrived and started rendering first aid until an ambulance arrived.

Both men were taken to a nearby hospital, where one died from his injuries. Yemi Ezekiel Mabiaku, 22, from Atlanta, was identified as the deceased victim.

The second victim, who had at least one gunshot wound, was taken into surgery. He is now in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. His identity is being withheld to protect his safety, police said.

Detectives determined this was not random and those involved know each other. Additionally, both victims were at the shopping center together and arrived to meet with the suspects, police said.
