Heritage Sandy Springs is pleased to welcome Pat Fuqua Nagle as the second speaker in our WW II Lecture Series. She is a 1948 initiate of Theta Sigma chapter at the University of Southern California, was the keynote speaker of this year’s luncheon for the survivors of the USS Arizona. The activities occurred during the week of December 7th in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii.

Pat’s father, Sam G. Fuqua, was a junior officer on the USS Arizona in 1941. During the surprise Japanese attack. Lt. Commander Fuqua discovered that he was the highest ranking officer on the Arizona left alive. He assumed command and was credited with saving all of the remaining survivors. For these actions he received our nation’s highest military award the Medal of Honor. Eventually her father reached the rank of Rear Admiral.

Pat grew up in the Orient and is quick to say “that she has been evacuated from all of the best places.” These included China, Japan and the Philippines. She married a naval officer and had three sons.
Pat will be speaking about her experiences during World War II on May 29, at 7:30 PM. Her talk will be held at the Heritage Sandy Springs Museum, 6075 Sandy Springs Circle. The event is free.
