Jury Acquits Man Charged With Attempted Murder in Bar Shooting
Adam Pina was charged in connection to the November 2015 shooting at Morgan Falls Billiards in Sandy Springs.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- A Fulton County jury has acquitted a man charged in connection to a November 2015 bar shooting that required the victim to undergo surgery.
The jury on Friday, Jan. 13 returned not guilty verdicts for Adam Pina on charges of simple battery, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, aggravated battery and criminal attempt to commit murder.
"I totally believed that the jury reached the truthful, correct verdict, and I am indebted to their service, their attention (and) willingness to find a truthful verdict," said Pina's attorney, Brian Steel.

Police were dispatched to a call of a person shot around 2 a.m. Nov. 30, 2015, at Morgan Fall Billiards located at 7875 Roswell Road.
Police previously told Patch that Pina was involved in a physical altercation with a 24-year-old male inside the bar.

During the encounter, the victim, later identified as Nicholas McCoy, fell to the ground and was shot twice in the chest by a small caliber pistol.
He was transported to North Fulton Hospital where he underwent surgery in connection the injuries.
According to Sandy Springs police, Pina initially fled the scene following the shooting, but came to their headquarters to "tell his side of the story." Investigators arrested Pina after allegedly admitting to shooting McCoy inside the bar.
Steel said Pina was defending himself as well as a friend from McCoy's alleged attack, an argument jurors subsequently believed.
