Ken Dishman Won't Seek Re-Election In Sandy Springs
Dishman represents District 2 on the Sandy Springs City Council.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- A familiar face on the Sandy Springs City Council won't be returning in January for another four-year term. Ken Dishman, who represents residents living in District 2, said he will not be running for re-election in the November municipal elections.
Dishman, who was first elected in 2013, said he made the decision after much "deliberation." His service in representing District 2 residents has been an honor, and Dishman notes he will "continue to work hard for all of Sandy Springs as I serve out the remainder of my term."
"Ultimately, my decision came down to prioritizing family and business travel needs, and allowing new leadership to step up to serve our great city," he notes in an email blast distributed Thursday morning.

Dishman added he hopes voters will elect a council member who will work to advance redevelopment efforts on the north end of the city.
"I am already aware of a distinguished community leader who plans to run for this office, and that individual has indeed been integrally involved with those redevelopment efforts," he added. "I will, of course, defer to that individual to announce their candidacy on their own terms."

Dishman said he and his constituents have had an amazing journey over the last four years.
"I am very proud to be a Sandy Springer, and I plan to remain involved in service to our community after I leave public office," he said, adding that in December, he will send out a final note reviewing his four-year term and acknowledging the folks in the community who've worked to "make a positive impact on all of us."
As for Dishman's colleagues, Councilman Gabriel Sterling has his eyes set on the race to fill the Fulton County Commission chairmanship. Council members Andy Bauman, John Paulson, Chris Burnett and Tibby DeJulio have all said they will seek re-election. Mayor Rusty Paul, who chose not to run in the hotly contested 6th Congressional District race, has not indicated what his plans are for the near future.
