Lake Forrest Drive To Close For Tree Removal In Sandy Springs

The closure is planned for July 31 through Aug. 4, and is needed to allow crews to remove trees along the steep slope.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Weather permitting, a segment of Lake Forrest Drive in Sandy Springs will close to allow crews to conduct vegetation management in the right of way.

The road will be closed from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, July 31 to Friday, Aug. 4 between Stewart Drive and Burdette Road for the project, which also includes the removal of trees along the steep slopes.

The work is needed as a safety precaution for the traveling public, the city said.

Tree roots within the slope can interfere with the slope’s stability. Lake Forrest was closed in 2013 and again in March of this year related to falling debris and concerns over the stability of the slopes.
