Lightning Possibly Sparked Fire That Damaged Home

The city of Sandy Springs said lighting is believed to be the cause of the fire, which was reported late Friday evening on Pitts Road.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA — A home suffered significant damage when it caught fire Friday evening in Sandy Springs.

Crews were dispatched shortly after 10 p.m. July 13 to the fire at a residence in the 1000 block of Pitts Road.

City spokesperson Sharon Kraun said lightning is believed to be the cause of the fire. There were no injuries, but the home did sustain "extensive damage," she added.
