Mercedes-Benz USA Breaks Ground in Sandy Springs
The company hopes to open its new facility at the corner of Abernathy and Barfield roads in 2018.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- Mercedes-Benz USA on Monday broke ground on its new headquarters in Sandy Springs.
The ceremony was attended by Mayor Rusty Paul, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed and Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal, the city of Sandy Springs said Monday on its Facebook page.
MBUSA, which relocated to a temporary facility in July 2015, will construct a new, state-of-the-art headquarters facility at the corner of Abernathy and Barfield roads near the intersection of S.R. 400 and Interstate 285.

The 225,000-square-foot headquarters will be located on a 12-acre campus at the south side of the 76-acre property, which is formerly home to Glenridge Hall.
The four-story building will contain innovative architectural elements designed to provide a performance-oriented and collaborative environment.

MBUSA hopes to open its new home in early 2018.
Once construction gets underway, Mercedes-Benz USA will donate the trees from the site to Zac Brown's Camp Southern Ground, according to a company press release. The trees will be re-purposed into building materials for Brown's plans to construct a camp facility targeted towards special needs children.
