Officers with the agency responded to a call of a robbery at the Mosaic at Sandy Springs apartments at 5675 Roswell Road around 11:17 a.m. Jan. 12.
Responding officers met with the cab driver, who ”had blood running down his face from a gash over his right eye and another round his right temple,” according to an incident report released by Sandy Springs police.

The cab driver said he picked up a customer at CVS Pharmacy at the corner of Roswell and Dalrymple roads and gave him a ride to the apartment complex.
According to the report, the suspect did not provide a physical address of his destination, but gave the driver directions to the apartment complex.
Once the cab arrived at the apartment complex, the suspect “said he did not have any money to pay” the $25 fare, but could call a friend at the apartment to pay the bill, the report states.
After waiting for roughly 20 minutes for the friend to show, the cab driver told the suspect male “he needed the money so he could leave.”
“The suspect male pulled a black hand gun from his back pack and, using the gun, struck [the driver] on the right side of his face at least twice,” according to the report.
The suspect, who was sitting in the back seat on the passenger side of the vehicle, allegedly told the driver he would kill him and exited the car. The driver told police the suspect ran north towards Building 52, the officer notes in the report.
The officer responding to the case tried to get additional information about the suspect from Style Taxi, owner of the company the victim was working for at the time of the attack.
However, the owner told police no call for a taxi was made to their office, leading police to believe the driver was “more than likely flagged down by the male suspect as opposed to being dispatched.”
The suspect, who is described as a black male between the age of 18 and 20, also dropped an empty 20-round magazine that possibly belongs to a 9-millimeter firearm. No other physical description was provided about the suspsect, other than he was approximately between 5’10’’ and 6 feet tall.
That clue was located on the passenger side floor of the back seat, the report states. The cab driver was transported to Northside Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.
