📰 News we're reading

• Major Georgia 400 exit shutting down for up to 2 years (wsbtv.com) — If you rely on Georgia 400 through Sandy Springs, be ready: southbound Exit 5 is closing and will be replaced by two temporary ramps to North Springs MARTA and Abernathy/Hammond for up to two years. The change is part of an $11 billion express lanes project that will bring more traffic shifts through 2031, so drivers should watch signs and not rely solely on navigation apps.

• Sandy Springs approves $2.5 million tax break for North River redevelopment (roughdraftatlanta.com) — Sandy Springs has approved a $4.33 million incentive package, including a $2.55 million tax abatement, to spur Woodfield Development's $200 million overhaul of the North River Shopping Center on Roswell Road. The plan adds a new public park, apartments, and 85 townhomes at a key North End gateway, with officials hoping the project jump-starts more dining, retail, and community spaces in the area.

• Rice: Commission on Women Serving in Pastoral Ministry formed to 'achieve greater clarity' (thebaptistpaper.org) — A new Southern Baptist Convention commission will study women serving in pastoral ministry and report back ahead of the 2027 annual meeting. Sandy Springs is represented through Aaron Menikoff, senior pastor of Mount Vernon Baptist Church, who will help shape the group's recommendations on this contentious issue.
