Public Notice Error Forces Sandy Springs To Defer Hines Project

An incorrect date posted on a zoning notice advertisement forced the Sandy Springs City Council to once again delay its vote.

An error on the public notice advertisement for a large mixed-use project forced the Sandy Springs City Council to once again hold off on considering the case.

The Council on Tuesday unanimously voted to defer for 30 days a request from Hines to rezone 14.31 acres on the east side of the city to accommodate a large mixed-use development. The vacant land is bordered by Georgia 400 to the west, Peachtree Dunwoody Road to the east, Abernathy Road to the north and Mount Vernon Highway to the south.

Nathan ”Pete” Hendricks, the attorney for the applicant, said the company had a “glitch” in its advertisement. The incorrect date — which was advertised for some time in September — means a “flaw in the notice requirements under the (city’s) ordinance,” said City Attorney Wendall Willard.
