Sandy Springs Armed Robbery, Carjacking Suspect Arrested
Police say the suspect forced a man to get into his own car, and took him to an ATM where he withdrew money from the victim's account.

SANDY SPRINGS, GA -- A 21-year-old man has been charged in connection to a Feb. 5 armed robbery and carjacking of a resident in his own driveway.
Sandy Springs police have identified Frederick Louis Spears as the man behind the bizarre incident occurring on Spalding Creek Court.
Spears has been charged with carjacking, hijacking a motor vehicle, kidnapping, armed robbery and aggravated assault, said Sandy Springs police spokesperson Sgt. Sam Worsham.

Sandy Springs detectives were called to investigate the incident just after 1 p.m. Feb. 5. According to police, the victim said a man brandishing a silver handgun approached him in his driveway on Spalding Creek Court.
The suspect demanded cash, forced the victim into the passenger seat of his own vehicle and drove him to a nearby ATM.

The resident was forced to withdraw money and the suspect fled the scene in the victim's car. The vehicle was eventually recovered in Lithonia, and a female passenger was detained for questioning.
Sandy Springs police say Spears in currently in DeKalb County Jail where he's waiting to be transferred back to Fulton County.
