According to the council’s agenda packet, Georgia Power has agreed to work with and install approved utility company facilities along with them.

Georgia Power, AT&T, Comcast, Google and the city are currently the planned utilities being installed in an underground trench, the city states.

The cost to Georgia Power covers material, equipment, and labor along with an excess facilities ongoing fee, or EFOC, for all installed utilities.

Georgia Power will do the task for a cost not to exceed $7.9 million. The estimated breakdown includes: labor, $2.5 million; material, $2.2 million; equipment: $550,000; and EFOC: $2.65 million. The city notes potential credits for franchise agreements, joint use credits and variances between estimated and actual costs will be refunded to the city at the end of each phase of the project.

Construction site prep work has already started on the City Center project, and a groundbreaking ceremony is expected to be held later this summer.
